What is a Mentee? A mentee is the individual who is being mentored.

What is a Mentor? A mentor is someone who feeds your spirit and your character in a manner that develops and creates the unique individual you are to become as a result of the growth process. Mentoring can take on various forms of structure, including:

  • A Familial Mentor: is a parent family or family member i.e. grandparent, older sibling, etc. who provides guidance, counsel and direction to assist younger family members to discover their strengths, weaknesses and paths in life.

  • An Informal Mentor: is one who feeds your spirit and your character in a manner that develops and creates the unique individual you are becoming.

  • A Peer Mentor: is an individual who is much on the same level as you are, but a bit ahead of you on the path. They may be a college senior mentoring a college freshman or a graduate student mentoring an undergraduate and participate in a younger mentee's adjustment to that similar path.   

  • Academic Mentoring: is done primarily by a faculty member involved with coursework of a mentee and provides guidance and direction beyond the interactions of the traditional coursework environment.

  • Professional Mentoring: is done by an individual who has achieved a professional and reaches our to assist another in travelling a path to achieve that same goal.
